Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
DAY 01Revelstoke, then the back way
Coffee in Revelstoke, then the quiet side of the loop the ski crowds fly over. Camp is riverside under peaks that hold snow all year.
DAY 02The Columbia bench
South along the big river with the Monashees on your shoulder. Gravel benches, osprey nests, and a camp with the current for white noise.
DAY 03Trout Lake road
The old silver rush road through Trout Lake: half ghost town, all charm. Camp at the lake head where the valley narrows.
DAY 04Into the Purcells
Up a drainage the heli operators know better than drivers do. Big walls, bigger quiet.
DAY 05Kaslo and the lake
Down to Kootenay Lake for a resupply, a bakery, and a beach camp. The soft day in the middle, on purpose.
DAY 06The Slocan side
North up the Slocan: clear water, old rail grades, and villages that never got busy. Swim stop non-negotiable.
DAY 07New Denver nights
Camp above the lake with the Valhallas across the water doing their evening show.
DAY 08The pass day
Over the high pass on the loop road, snow walls in June, marmots always. The driving day the route is named for.
DAY 09Nakusp soak
A springs afternoon to take the road out of your shoulders, then one last lakeside camp.
DAY 10The slow goodbye
An easy morning back to Revelstoke. Walkthrough, coffee, and a strong opinion about which valley you are coming back for.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
