The Highway 40 Route.
7 TO 10 DAYS · SELF-GUIDED OR FULLY GUIDED · COMMITTED

From the Crowsnest, Highway 40 runs essentially forever: Ram Falls, the wilderness areas, and hundreds of kilometres of almost nobody the whole way to Hinton. This is the front-range Alberta nobody markets: bighorn on the road, brook trout in the creeks, and gravel horizons that reset your sense of scale.
Coleman to Hinton the long way, a founder favourite.

Promoted accordingly, because the founder can't help himself.
The log updates itself as bookings land. Dates don't fit? Ask about a custom window. The season flexes for longer trips.
Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
DAY 01Coleman, the long way
North out of Coleman on the founder favourite line. The kind of road that makes you check the map twice and grin both times.
DAY 02The Livingstone
Up the Livingstone valley where the range rises like a wall. Camp on the river flats with trout for company.
DAY 03The Gap
Through the famous gap in the range, wind guaranteed, photos mandatory.
DAY 04Kananaskis south
Into the quiet south end of K-Country: big passes, bighorn sheep, and a camp at elevation.
DAY 05Highwood Pass country
Over the highest paved point in the country, then straight back off the pavement where the route belongs.
DAY 06The forestry trunk
North on the trunk road, a river braided beside you and the front ranges stacked to the west. Long, glorious, empty.
DAY 07Ghost country
Through the Ghost with its fords and slick rock. The technical day, spotted where it matters.
DAY 08The Bow crossing
Across the corridor quickly and back into the trees north of it, where Alberta gets quiet again.
DAY 09The last ridge
A high camp with the plains on one side and the Rockies on the other, and a sunset doing propaganda for the province.
DAY 10The slow goodbye
Down into Hinton for fuel, walkthrough, and the strong urge to turn around and do it southbound.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
