The middle of the island most visitors never see.
Ten days of old growth, high mainlines and lakes with nobody on them, threading the spine of Vancouver Island between both coasts. Fully curated with highlights and campsites handed to you, exploring already done, and just enough adventure built in to keep you guessing. This is the route we send people who ask which one is most like the brochure.
The log updates itself as bookings land. Dates don't fit? Ask about a custom window. The season flexes for longer trips.
Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
DAY 01Keys, coffee, and the first mainline
Orientation wraps by mid-morning and the pavement runs out before lunch. First camp is on water, because first camps should be.
DAY 02Into the old growth
Big timber and bigger silence. The mainline threads groves that were old before the province had a name. Camp under trees you'll try to photograph and fail.
DAY 03The high country
The road climbs into cutblock vistas and subalpine spurs. This is the day the island shows you its spine. Camp with a view.
DAY 04Gold River and the western water
Fuel and a real coffee in Gold River, then out toward Nootka Sound country. Salt in the air by dinner.
DAY 05The lake with nobody on it
A short driving day on purpose. Paddle boards off the rack, hammocks up, fishing rods out. This is the day the trip pays for itself.
DAY 06North on the spine
Long mainlines through working forest, the radio crackling logging traffic. Wave at the loaded trucks; they own the road, you're borrowing it.
DAY 07Woss and the crossroads
Resupply, fuel, and a choice we'll have made together already: east toward the sound or higher into the ridges. Either way, camp is wild.
DAY 08The east coast side
Down through the valley systems toward the inside passage views. Islands stacked on islands across the water.
DAY 09The argument camp
The camp you will not want to leave. We built a rest day into the line here for exactly that reason. Stay. Swim. Eat too well.
DAY 10The slow goodbye
Back roads almost the whole way home. We meet you, walk the truck, and hand you a coffee while you tell us everything we already know: you needed fourteen days.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
