The Full Traverse.
14 DAYS · SELF-GUIDED OR FULLY GUIDED · COMMITTED

Two weeks, both coasts, and everything from highway to hand-cleared spur. Cape to cape with the north island's empty quarter in between.
Tip to tip. Every kind of road the island owns.
Two weeks, both coasts, and everything from highway to hand-cleared spur. Cape to cape with the north island's empty quarter in between. The traverse is the island's full argument: rainforest, alpine, fog beaches, and mainline networks that outnumber the paved roads ten to one.
The log updates itself as bookings land. Dates don't fit? Ask about a custom window. The season flexes for longer trips.
Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
DAY 01Tip of the island, tank full
We start at the bottom with a full tank and a plan fourteen days deep. Orientation in the morning, the first mainline by noon, and a south coast camp where the surf does the talking.
DAY 02The southern beaches
Empty sand and sea stacks most visitors never earn. Slow morning, short drive, long walk. Camp stays on the water because leaving it would be a crime.
DAY 03Into the timber
The route turns inland and the trees get serious. Big timber, bigger silence, and the first proper gravel climbs of the trip.
DAY 04Lakes district
A string of lakes with your pick of them. Paddle boards off the rack, rods out, and an argument about which camp is best that nobody loses.
DAY 05The west coast reach
Out toward the open Pacific on mainlines that smell like salt. Camp above a beach that has never once heard a reservation system.
DAY 06Rest day, on purpose
Zero driving unless you want firewood. Surf, swim, read, nap. The truck makes a rest day feel like a resort with better views.
DAY 07Gold River and the sound
Fuel and a real espresso, then out into Nootka Sound country where the history is older than the province.
DAY 08The spine
The high middle of the island: cutblock vistas, subalpine spurs, and the day the route earns its Committed rating. Covered fully in your orientation.
DAY 09Woss and the working forest
Long mainlines through active logging country, radio crackling. Wave at the loaded trucks; they own the road, you are borrowing it.
DAY 10The north island
Quieter, wetter, wilder. Rainforest camps and rivers that run loud all night in the best way.
DAY 11Cape country
As far north as the road argues you should go. Wind-bent trees, black sand, and whales if the day is kind.
DAY 12The east side turn
Down the inside passage views: islands stacked on islands across the water, and the easiest driving of the trip when you have earned it.
DAY 13The argument camp
The camp you will not want to leave, so we planned for that. Stay put. Swim. Eat too well. Watch the ferries thread the strait at dusk.
DAY 14The slow goodbye
Back roads nearly all the way home. We meet you, walk the truck, and start sketching the next one before the kettle cools.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
