Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
DAY 01North past the end of the signs
Up the Nass into Nisga'a territory, lava beds and cedar. The road quiets down and stays that way.
DAY 02The lava fields
The youngest lava in Canada, a moonscape wearing moss, and the memorial stories that come with it, told right.
DAY 03Nass valley days
Villages, fish wheels in season, and a camp on the river with the day birds handing off to the night ones.
DAY 04The junction itself
Cranberry Junction, where the pavement thins to rumour. North on the Nass FSR with the trailers long gone.
DAY 05The empty middle
A full day of gravel with more bears than vehicles. Fuel is planned, camps are mapped, and the silence is the feature.
DAY 06Meziadin
The junction lake, the salmon runs, and the grizzlies who commute to them. Camp with the bear briefing fresh.
DAY 07The glacier road
West toward Stewart between walls of ice: Bear Glacier practically leans over the road.
DAY 08Stewart and Hyder
The end-of-road twin towns, one flag each. Salmon glacier above, the best toe of ice on the continent below.
DAY 09Salmon Glacier day
Up the mine road to the viewpoint that makes helicopters feel unnecessary. All day allowed. It earns it.
DAY 10The slow goodbye
South with the ice in the mirrors, a walkthrough at Meziadin, and a changed definition of remote.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
