★★★★★ 5.0 on Google
Ryan took us into parts of Vancouver Island I didn't even know existed. Driving along riverbanks, crossing legit deep rivers, and camping on riverside beaches that felt like our own private spot. The wildlife was unreal.
via Google ReviewsWe had an unreal experience with Skybreaker Overland. We spent seven days exploring Vancouver Island and got way deeper into the island than we ever would have on our own. These trucks made it feel like no obstacle was too big.
via Google ReviewsThis was an epic trip. Got to see some backcountry areas but still have all the comforts of home: a comfortable mattress, protection from rain and wind, and a hot shower. Looking forward to the next Overland adventure.
via Google ReviewsBeen dreaming allot of renting an expedition vehicle and I was able to make it happen through Skybreaker Overland! It was everything I wanted and more!
via Google ReviewsI joined Ryan and SkyBreaker Overland for the first three days of a longer expedition, driving my own Land Cruiser alongside his big expedition trucks, and it was a blast.
via Google ReviewsWhat a great adventure we had this winter with such a great company. We picked up Roxanne (the truck) and with Ryan's informative orientation it was a breeze to drive both in the city and the backcountry.
via Google ReviewsFor those looking to take their adventure on the road to places few people have seen, this is the experience for you! Our Skybreaker vehicle had all the comforts of home.
via Google ReviewsI have experienced Skybreaker Overland in many different ways. A winter hot springs expedition, the driver training course in the Kootenays, and the remote beaches of northern Vancouver Island.

Find a fully curated route with just enough adventure built in to keep you guessing. Regions run left to right across BC, and every route in them ships with the same standard. None of the below? Scroll to the bottom and we'll build yours.
Trips our founder hasn't unlocked yet.
Regions we haven't explored. In true expedition fashion we're entering the unknown, and who knows what's around the corner or what it might entail. Not for the faint of heart. Experienced applicants only. Bring your own truck, or run one of ours.
The Ice Roads Expedition
Polar bears, beluga whales, northern lights, and driving the ice roads of the frigid Arctic.
The Uninhabited Island
We barge the fleet onto a stretch of coast where no communities exist. You arrive by chartered aircraft or power boat. All provisioned, all on our own.
All-Gravel Across BC
The Alberta border to the Pacific coast without touching pavement. Can we make it happen? A challenge we've never seen done.
These don't go on sale. They get applied for. A handful of seats, once, alongside the founder, into country that has no repeat customers because nobody's been the first time yet. If you're reading this twice, you already know.
Bring socks and underwear. We packed the rest.
Every truck leaves fully provisioned so you can pack like you're visiting a very well equipped friend. Soap, shampoo and towels are on board. Linens are on the beds. The kitchen is stocked down to the spice rack. Consider the season, pack the clothes you love, and confirm the details with your trip planner. That's it.
Induction or diesel cooking, fridge and freezer, full cookware and knives, plates, cups and utensils for the crew, toaster, kettle, blender, coffee grinder, and a full set of organic spices. Grocery service available so it arrives provisioned to your list.
Beds made with real linens, towels for everyone, soap and shampoo on board, hot water on demand, indoor shower, composting toilet, and filtered drinking water from lakes and streams.
Camp chairs and coffee table, awning, campfire kit with axes and roasting sticks, a night or two of firewood, campfire blankets kept separate from your inside blankets, and citronella for the evening shift.
Two hammocks, inflatable paddle boards, fishing rods and lure kits, binoculars, map books, reading books, board games, a deck of cards, and a Bluetooth speaker for exactly the right volume.
Starlink on board, recovery gear and tool kit, spare parts, bear spray within reach, first aid, and the founding team one message away, wherever you are.
If budget isn't the question, this is the answer.
Separate from the standard, on top of it. Premium enhancements woven into your route by our team, so the best day of the trip has competition. All it takes is a word to your trip planner.
There's no fixed list and no limit. Tell your trip planner what a perfect day looks like, and we'll build it into the line.
The log updates itself as bookings land. Dates don't fit? Ask about a custom window. The season flexes for longer trips.
Day by day
Every day is a card: where you wake up, what the road does, where you sleep.
The route geek sheet
The planning detail behind the line. For the spec-curious, and for knowing exactly what you're saying yes to.
Expedition rigs and beyond.
One standard across every rig: weeks of water, power and heat, and everything you need to live well off-grid. We match the truck to your group size and experience level, so you never have to choose blind.
Four wheels and more.
Six personalities, one standard. Weeks of water, power and heat on every rig, matched to your group and experience.
Beyond where the big truck goes.
Add a DR650 onto your truck booking so a partner can ride along, or to unlock the side quests beyond where even the big truck goes: the trail that pinches in, the summit road, the quick run to town. Or skip the truck entirely. The DRs rent standalone too, fully kitted for a dual sport ride with the camp kit available. Follow one of our routes or choose your own. Three bikes, built out one at a time. The build-outs get dictated from the shop floor.
Different personalities. One standard.
The geek sheet
Everything the spec-curious want to know. If a number matters to your route, bridge weights, ferry decks, fuel planning, it's here.
From dream trip to trailhead.
From start to finish, you're taken care of. You pick the region and the dates, we pick the rig, we teach you what you need, and away you go. This isn't your grandpa's average road trip, so it starts with a conversation, not a checkout line.
The Discovery Call
It starts with a call. We learn your dream trip: where you want to wake up, what you want to chase, how far you want to push. We suggest regions and routes to fit your budget and time, match a rig to your party and experience, and land on your package: self-guided, fully guided, try before you buy, training, or consulting. If you'd benefit from extra training, an air brake endorsement or a boot camp before the big one, we spot it here, not in your driveway.
Booking & Registration
Lock your dates, send the deposit, sign the contract, upload licences. If you've taken on add-ons, we start those bookings now too.
The Excitement Builds
Self-guided and fully guided packages: feel calm and at ease, it's already taken care of. Extended and custom trips: we plan together on adventure planning calls until the line is exactly yours.
Arrival & Orientation
Plane, boat or train, we arrange your pickup. Or we deliver the truck to your driveway. Orientation runs two to three hours as required: systems, driving, on-site training. Then the keys are yours.
On the Road
Self-guided: go get lost as much as you want, or stay completely connected. The 24-7 Adventure Concierge rides along by Starlink: campsite seeking, pub recommendations, technical and mechanical support. Fully guided: your expert runs the route, reads the weather, and makes the calls while you soak it in. Trial runs and training: every system is a classroom and every campfire is a debrief, with your coach right there. However you travel, it's the founding team on the line. Never a call center.
The Return
Get yourself ready to come back: find a spot to offboard your garbage and compost, drain your grey water, and fill the fuel tanks. Then we meet you, walk the truck together, make sure there are no damages, and return your deposit. From there we get you back to the hotel, the ferry, or the airport.
After
You head home with stories your friends will be sick of hearing. And the referral program: every customer you send us earns you extra days on your next adventure. Be sad you only booked three days. Then book more.
Ready to start at kilometre zero?
Field knowledge, filed for the road.

Want the 102 and the 103?
The 101s stay free and open forever. The deeper layer lives with the fleet membership: the full vault, podcast style interviews with the people who live this, member trip planning, and the community that comes with it.
Founding members lock in $25 CAD a month, for good.
You're on the list. First to know when the vault opens.
Learn it. Build it. Drive it. Live it.
The knowledge behind the lifestyle, the fleet, and the travel, on tap. We've been doing this our entire lives. Training or consulting with us will expedite your journey.
Driver Training
The Three-Day Boot Camp. A small collection of avid expedition truck people on a journey together, with certified training instructors along for the whole trip. One-on-one coaching, driver skills, critical thinking, recovery techniques, simulated and real situations. And camaraderie around the campfire every night, which is where the real learning happens anyway.
Air brake endorsement support available before the big expeditions.
One-on-One Training
We take the skills you have and transform them for a heavier, larger expedition truck. This isn't the same as driving a Jeep: the sight lines, the weight, the recovery thinking, all of it scales up, and your critical thinking has to scale with it.
One-on-one courses built around exactly what you need to improve, on-road and off. Your truck or ours.
Lifestyle Coaching
One-on-one consulting, by the hour. It's a holistic approach: understanding why you want it and how you'll use it, so we can direct you to exactly the right things. Start with the intro package or go all the way down with the extensive deep dive.
Off-grid systems. Solar, water, heating, batteries, the works. How they function in unison, and how to live on them indefinitely.
Chassis selection. The most critical foundation there is. North American built or a European import? Cab over or conventional? Warranty or wrenching it yourself? Does it need to work in Angola and Ecuador, or is North America the map? We've made these calls with our own money.
Truck selection and pre-purchase guidance. The confidence that you're buying the vehicle you need, not the one you found first.
Building and equipping. Everything from top to bottom, we've done it before. And once it's bought: what goes in it? Glassware, maybe not. Recovery gear, absolutely. We'll spec it with you.
Truck orientation. You just bought a truck and have no idea what to do with it. We'll come out and go head to toe: greasing U joints to resetting your solar.
Ready to go. Thinking full expedition? Maps, security, passports and secondary document files, worst case planning, parts sourcing, inspection services, one-on-one training, trip planning. All of it lives here.
Or do it at your own pace: join the membership and get access to the entire knowledge vault.
Try Before You Buy
Pick a trip, and we design your consulting function on top of it. You travel the route like any customer, except every system is a classroom and every campfire is a debrief.
Highly curated, meeting you where you're at. Whether you're a YouTube University expert or looking at this lifestyle for the very first time, we'll help you get there before you spend truck money.
Build & Buy Advice
Looking to get into this on your own? We have multiple ways in, from one-on-one consulting calls to try before you buy time on our fleet.
And for the ones with the dream but not the spare weekends, the full concierge: one holistic call about what you want, how you'll use it, where you'll go, what you'll fix yourself and what you won't. Once we have the full picture, we can go as far as delivering the truck of your dreams to your driveway.

Why we exist.
Twenty years and a million kilometres of living this, distilled into a fleet you can borrow. This is who we are, and why the trucks exist.
We've lived this lifestyle for over twenty years. A million kilometres, every piece of equipment under the sun, and adventures in every capacity we could find. Wanting to circumnavigate the globe by vehicle, the expedition truck platform became the natural fit.
Here's the honest part: getting into this is a big venture. It's expensive in dollars and in time, and doing it safely and confidently takes years. Breakdowns, being stranded, getting lost. Weather, closed roads, detours, sourcing parts in the middle of nowhere. Learning how the systems work in unison, learning the driving, and learning the lifestyle itself: managing your water, finding fuel, where to do laundry, packing food for weeks away, fresh first and last.
Not everybody has years for that. But everybody should get to experience it. So Skybreaker was born: everything expedition truck based. The big lofty goal is trucks available around the world, so you can travel region after region without the long arduous travel in between. For today, we're focused on the Pacific Northwest, and dominating it.
Wild places, real comfort.
Anybody can travel anywhere, at any comfort level. We get it, because we've done most of them. We've been dirtbags hitchhiking across random countries in the backs of pickups with nothing but a backpack. We've bikepacked with rotten socks through bug-infested fields and scorching heat. We've ridden adventure bikes across great distances until our hands buzzed and our asses went numb. We've lived the van life and the boat life.
You can stay at resorts and rent a car. You can rent an RV. Or you can do this: no planning required, go as far as you want, wherever and whenever, and feel completely at home doing it.
Safety and confidence for you to explore your ambitions. We meet you where you're at, from the simple idea to the most extravagant expedition. A National Geographic explorer chasing places nobody's gone, or a weekend taking your son fishing. We capture it all.
Expedition trucks available around the world, and the freedom to roam between them. Region after region, without the long in-between.
Ryan.
A million kilometres, two passports filled cover to cover, and a lifetime of ways to get into trouble: mountaineering, paragliding, scuba, paddling, biking, and everything with a motor. He builds these trucks, drives these trucks, and answers the concierge line himself.
Just want to talk?
No commitment to any booking or product. Somebody has a question about something. This is the page for it.
Got it. You'll hear from the founding team within 48 hours.
Invest in the fleet, not the headaches.
Skybreaker Overland is revolutionizing adventure travel by combining luxury with the wild. We create unparalleled experiences for travellers who want the world's most remote places without sacrificing comfort. As the fleet grows and new routes open, there's room at the table for the people who see it coming.
This is for the people who have wanted a truck like this for years but not the commitment of owning one. Fractional and co-ownership memberships put you into the fleet: access to multiple trucks across our locations, turnkey, show up and drive. Prefer to deploy capital instead of weekends? Direct investment backs the fleet's growth. And if you run your own group tours but don't want to manage vehicles, we'll operate the fleet while you run the adventure.
Your rig, our fleet.
- World class expedition trucks sit idle most of the year. Ours don't.
- Under Skybreaker management your vehicle joins a curated fleet for guided adventures and premium rentals.
- We handle marketing, client screening, insurance, operations, storage, and maintenance oversight. You share the revenue every time it rolls.
- Completed truck or mid-build, hands off and transparent.
The truck you want, shared smart.
- Divide the cost, share the maintenance, keep the access.
- Collaborate with like-minded people who love these machines the way you do.
- Flexibility and affordability without giving up the dream spec.
Fuel the fleet itself.
- Custom-designed trucks, built to our exact specifications, placed strategically where the adventures are.
- Your investment scales operations, service, and new markets.
- Today the Pacific Northwest. The plan runs a lot further than that.
This corner is on the bench.
It isn't a mistake, we're just not done yet. The whole site is under construction, loud and proud, and this page is on the list. Tell us what you expected to find here and we'll build it faster.
Fifteen minutes, zero pressure.
Where we learn your dream trip and make sure you're never overwhelmed or underwhelmed. Add-ons, licensing questions, and training plans get sorted here, long before your arrival day.
- Where you want to wake up, what you want to chase
- Regions and routes for your budget and time
- The right rig for your party and experience
- Self-guided, guided, trial run, training, or custom
- Licensing, add-ons, and anything keeping you up at night

The questions everyone asks.
Didn't find it?
Some answers are a conversation, and some live in the vault with the rest of the field knowledge.
A one of a kind product for your curriculum.
Your clients have done the lodge, the cruise, and the villa. They have not driven a purpose-built expedition truck into the roadless middle of wild nature and slept where the map runs out of names. British Columbia is where it starts. It doesn't end there. That's the product we hand you: fully outfitted, fully insured off pavement, fully supported by a 24-7 concierge run by the founding team.
Here's how it works: you bring the client, we handle discovery, matching, orientation, and the entire trip experience. Commission structures and white-label options are on the table for the right partners, and every itinerary can be co-branded into your existing packages. Seabourn sells deeper discovery by sea. You can sell it by land.
We're always looking for good people.
We might not have full-time work for you today. But if your passion calls you toward expedition trucks, we want to know you exist, because as we grow, we'll need you.
Knowledgeable guides in your region. You know the mainlines, the campsites nobody signposts, and where the fuel actually is.
Mechanically inclined people who can fix anything, anywhere. Diesel, hydronics, electrical, and the patience for all three at once.
The gurus who make us look as good as the trips actually are. Shooters, editors, storytellers.
Open interest list right now: seasonal trip guides for Vancouver Island and the Kootenays, a Victoria-area detail and turnaround technician, and content shooters who already live on gravel. No formal postings yet. Introduce yourself and tell us which one is you.
Stay tuned as we grow. We'll need more support.
The company we keep.
Two kinds of partners make this work: the associations that keep the backcountry worth visiting, and the businesses that build, outfit, and believe in these machines.
The standards we run by The builders and outfittersLogos link to each partner. The roster keeps growing.
Put the trucks on camera.
If you're filming, we can work on usage of the trucks for media: destination marketing with the likes of Travel Alberta and Destination BC, editorial features, and travel trade productions.
Launching a product? The truck sides can be rebranded for your release, and the fleet travels to wherever the shoot is. Film and television productions get a support vehicle that is also the story: expedition-ready, camera-ready, and backed by a crew that can put it anywhere your director points. Aerial coordination, remote basecamps, and talent transport deep off-grid are all on the menu.
- Hero trucks, camera-ready, with drivers
- Side panels rebrandable for product releases
- Remote basecamps with power, heat, water, Starlink
- Talent and crew transport deep off-grid
- 4K ground and aerial b-roll across BC: coastlines, alpine, river crossings, convoys
- A deep professional stills library from dedicated shoots, licensed per use
- Drone-certified capture and route scouting on demand
- Location knowledge from a million kilometres of backcountry
- DMOs: Destination BC, Travel Alberta and friends
- Brands launching outdoor product
- Film and TV needing the truck to be the story

This privacy notice for Skybreaker Overland describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and share your information when you use our services: visiting the website, making a booking or inquiry, or engaging with us in sales, marketing, or events.
What we collect
Personal information you provide: names, phone numbers, email addresses, mailing and billing addresses, and payment card details when you book. We do not process sensitive personal information. We also collect standard log, device, and location data automatically, and use cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it
To deliver and manage your bookings and rentals, respond to inquiries, send administrative information, request feedback, post testimonials with permission, send marketing you've opted into, and comply with legal obligations. If you opt into SMS on our forms, we text you about your inquiry, booking, or trip. Reply STOP anytime. We do not sell or share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing.
Sharing
We share information only in specific situations: business transfers, analytics (Google Analytics), mapping (Google Maps Platform), and with business partners for products you've asked about. We keep information only as long as needed, protect it with appropriate technical and organizational measures, and do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under Canadian privacy law), you can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, withdraw consent, and opt out of marketing at any time. Contact us at hello@skybreakeroverland.com and we'll act on your request in accordance with applicable law.
Photos, stories & social media
Adventures make good stories, and we tell them. By travelling with us you grant Skybreaker Overland the right to use photos, videos, reviews and interactions from your trip in our marketing and social media. If you'd rather not appear, we respect that completely: opt out any time by emailing hello@skybreakeroverland.com and we'll keep you out of the frame and take down anything already posted that features you.
Full statutory text, including US state-specific rights, mirrors the policy at skybreakeroverland.com/privacy-policy and should be reviewed with counsel before launch. The privacy contact for this policy is hello@skybreakeroverland.com.
The fine print, written like a human.
Draft for review · the live site currently carries SMS terms only · full rental terms to be finalized with counsel
Bookings & deposits
A booking is confirmed when your deposit is received and your contract is signed. Licences are verified before keys are handed over, and orientation is mandatory. Details of deposits, balances, and cancellation windows are set out in your rental agreement.
Where the truck can go
Everywhere the trip plan says it can: gravel, forest service roads, and deep backcountry included, with insurance that follows. No kilometre caps. Abuse, racing, and waterways are not adventure, they're contract breaches.
Your responsibilities
Fuel along the way is yours. Return with tanks full, grey water drained, and garbage offboarded. Damage walkthrough happens together at return, and your security deposit comes back when the truck checks out.
SMS terms
By submitting a form and checking the SMS consent box, you consent to receive texts from Skybreaker Overland about your inquiry, booking, and trip. Message frequency varies with your trip activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help, or contact hello@skybreakeroverland.com. Consent is not a condition of purchase. We do not sell or share your number for third party marketing.
Cancellations & rebooking
Booked trips aren't refunded. Life happens though, so instead of keeping your money and your bad mood, we rebook: your deposit and payments carry forward to new dates that work. Tell us early and we'll make it painless.
Assumption of risk
Backcountry travel carries real risks: remote terrain, wildlife, weather, and roads that don't apologize. By booking you acknowledge those risks and accept them for yourself and your party. We train you, equip you, and stay one message away, and the wild stays the wild.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, Skybreaker Overland's liability is limited to the amount you paid for your booking. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays caused by weather, road closures, ferries, or other events outside our control. Where that happens, we reroute or rebook.
Insurance & deductible
The trucks carry commercial insurance that follows you onto gravel and into the backcountry as routed. Your responsibility in a claim is capped at the deductible stated in your rental agreement, and the walkthrough at pickup and return protects both of us.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada, and any disputes land in BC courts. We'd rather solve it over a phone call first.
Changes to these terms
We update this page as the company grows. The version on this site at the time of your booking is the one that applies to it, and material changes get communicated, not buried.
